“Are you ready to see my ‘no emotion’ face?” she asks me, gesturing to the throngs of photographers waiting outside. The 10 paces we take from the door of the restaurant to Swift’s black SUV feel a bit like walking the plank. Nestled safely inside the cocoon of the car’s backseat, she continues. “I usually only make that face when I’m alone, or I put my head down.” Why? I ask. “So they don’t get a good shot.” She pauses and thinks about it. “I guess also because I’m scared.” (x)
