Miu Miu ‘Leather Sandals’ – $961.00 (similar)

We didn’t get very many good looks at Taylor’s shoes for the night given the length and cut of her gown, but luckily we did get one snap as she was heading up to the podium from her seat to receive her Global Icon award.

They appear to be a very similar pair to the ones linked (a metallic silver mule) and pictured – Taylor’s appears to be a cool-toned silver/grey that almost reads lilac/lavender.

Jessie Thomas ‘Gold Sculptural Ring w Pear Diamond’ – £3,900.00
Ananya ‘Celeste Ring ½ Pink’ – $2,333.00
Ananya ‘Celeste Ring 2/2 Yellow’ – $4,640.00
Astley Clark ‘Biography Eternity Ring’ – $144.99
Ananya ‘Diamond Scatter Band’ – not available
Sophie Bille Brahe ‘Bianca Ring’ – €8,500.00

Taylor wore an assortment of rings last night – I appreciate the notes of pink to correlate with her lip and the iridescent embellishments of her ensemble. But I think my favourite is that scattered diamond band. I love the movement of it.

Jessica McCormack ‘Signature Diamond 1.50ct Gypset Hoop Earrings’ – £50,000.00

Thanks to the JMc team for confirming Taylor’s exact earring size. As suspected, they are the 1.5 carat. These are timeless earrings that also do a nice job of mimicking the shape and size of the crystal embellishments in her ensemble.

She couldn’t have been more clear that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) was next without cutting her hair back into that era’s signature bob, don’t you think?

I jokingly noted in Monday’s predictions post to the TSS Patreon that it wouldn’t surprise me if Taylor made some allusion to the RED album given she’s already [seemingly] dropped hints about 1989 with the “Wildest Dreams” snippet and Speak Now with her usage of three emojis across her social media, that why wouldn’t she also throw in some RED hints too to really mix things up. Enter Taylor in sleek long hair and doing away with the charming curly fringe we’ve been seeing for the folkmore era. I think she still pulls this cut and texture off so well.

Going back in my DMs, there were many early mentions of gree(eeeeeee)n in Taylor’s outfit but I think that boils down to the filter she applied for her sneak peek Instagram posts. The actual red carpet lewk is closer to a silver or a pale pale pale mint blue, to my discerning gaze.

But to the lewk itself! At its core, it’s a 1989-friendly crop top with a more sophisticated skirt. Where her two-tone colourful Versace lewk at the 2016 Grammys (aka the curtain call of the 1989 era) was Malibu Barbie chic, this feels as subdued and refined as one can be when you’re wearing a crystal embellished crop top.

At first with only that Instagram photo to go off of, I had feared that the bottom half of the lewk would be a pair of shorts or skort or a full ballroom skirt. Catch me being pleasantly surprised driving back from the wilderness to learn that it was this more fitted full-length skirt that brings to mind one of my favourite silhouettes on Taylor – the column. She pulls it off well and I think this is a very fresh take and an appropriate update to what was her signature 1989 style.

The embellishment detail on the skirt and top are so intricate and lovely, that the only nitpick I think I could make is that given the iridescent way the crystals capture the light leans more purple/lilac or cool pink I think I would have loved to have seen that reflected in the lip.

Otherwise, this is a very lovely outing for Taylor that achieves its objective well: Ushering in the next phase of the re-records era.

Now this is much more like it.

Bouncing back from a divisive green look the night before at the Elle Style Awards, I’m glad to see Taylor indulge in a fierce risk that I can actually appreciate.

Though the silhouette from the front may be somber, it’s the vibrant red dragon-embroidered and mesh back that delivers the drama. Improvements in terms of hair and make-up as well as styling (those ear cuffs!) are also high points for this look.

While I’m not sure it will go down as one of my all-time favourites from Taylor, though I’m sure this moment will be dubbed ‘The Dragon Dress’ by its admirers, this is the kind of fierce elegance and confidence I’d like to see from now on. She’s rocking this.

Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2013 RTW

I think I’m in love.

After a slew of red carpet appearances in angelic white, Taylor kept her promise that her appearance at this year’s BRIT Awards would be the devilish darkside to her last few performances.

She looks sexy and mature in this dual-slit black gown by one of her favourite designers: Elie Saab.

Camping (May 10-12)

Hi TSSers!

I’ll be away this week with no cell service. I’m really looking forward to unplugging off-grid for a mental break.

Not to foreshadow my own Camping Girl 2.0 identity, in case a certain someone decides to drop all of her re-records while I’m away – you know whose disappearance you have to thank. If this does happen, please know I’ll address any surprise appearances when I return on Wednesday, May 12.

Thinking of you all and hope you’re safe + well.

Windsor ‘Halter Embellished Dress’ – no longer available

This iconic performance at the 2008 ACMs had a little bit of everything. An onstage costume change, a key change, rain! Many elements of this performance eventually went on to become a part of the theatricality on the Fearless Tour.
