Lorraine Schwartz earrings and rings
On a night of many surprises, one thing that didn’t surprise me was Taylor’s jewelry provider – the constant and wonderful Lorraine Schwartz. I particularly love that very modern and sharp shape of her drop diamond earrings.
While the dripping diamonds here are a great tie-in to the overall cascading effect of the dress, I think the similar idea of the ‘Planetava’ style Louboutins would have accomplished the same goal in a slightly cleaner silhouette.
I have the privilege to be able to write this caption with the full knowledge of Midnights on my mind and the awareness that this look is likely a taster of a rich, luxe, almost showgirl glam style. A new, womanly version of the retro and vintage fashion she has favoured for more than a decade – but elevated. And with a fun, vampy sex appeal.
I’m of the opinion this is not a reference to her 2009 dress from this same event – it’s distinctly different in silhouette and composition. Perhaps if I were looking at an asymmetrical one-shoulder gown with diagonal swathes of glitter – I could see the comparison. But this feels far removed from that Kaufmanfranco of 13 years prior.
While this dripping diamond mini has a lot of vintage feels (I love the halter neck), it doesn’t feel right to draw comparison to vintage Taylor fashion. This is a sartorial step in a fresh, new direction to reflect a new body of work and a new period in her life. Let’s consider and treat it as such.
Taylor’s beautiful earrings she wore while accepting this songwriter award are confirmed one-of-a-kind by jewellers Larkspur & Hawk who also provided the earrings for her iHeartRadio Awards appearance.
Tentatively, it appears as though Taylor is wearing a dress featuring the pictured motif referred to as ‘Ramadan Heart’ that appeared throughout a recent Positively Conscious collection for Stella McCartney Kids.
Very much in keeping tune with the woodsy folklore-ian style that we’ve seen from her,Taylor wore a romantic and richly textured waist tie dress by new-to-her brand Hemant & Nandita — a brand inspired by Indian tradition and culture.
The smoked out makeup and crown braid really drive home the folklore woodsy feel.
We didn’t get very many good looks at Taylor’s shoes for the night given the length and cut of her gown, but luckily we did get one snap as she was heading up to the podium from her seat to receive her Global Icon award.
They appear to be a very similar pair to the ones linked (a metallic silver mule) and pictured – Taylor’s appears to be a cool-toned silver/grey that almost reads lilac/lavender.
