I’ve often seen it said in the past that the lines between Taylor’s fashion demarked by eras is the most blurred at the cusp between Fearless and Speak Now. So it’s all the more interesting to see this next fashionable moment in Speak Now TV’s reclamation to include a subtle homage to Fearless and its neverending “Love Story”.

I personally like to think of Speak Now as that precipice moment. The album that crystallized the falling from the ivory tower. That fleeting moment as a princess realizes the fairytales she once dared to dream perhaps were nightmares after all. It’s the start of a disillusionment with grandeur, yet still hopelessly scrabbling to hold on to something optimistic, dreamy, whimsical, and innocent.

The Eras Tour

If you’ve been following me for awhile and/or are a (former/present) dancer then this isn’t news to you. I originally noted back in 2018 during the reputation Tour that Taylor employs an old dancers trick to get her legs looking the way they do on stage – double layering tights.

The first pair is a shimmery one to bounce light, and the second is a pair of fishnets. The effect creates a nice, consistent compression feel on the leg while also looking great for stage.

The one constant in Taylor’s tour wardrobe? Much like the RED Tour, a sturdy pair of tights. In this case, the renowned dancewear brand Capezio. The brand was kind enough to confirm that Taylor and her dancers are wearing the above ultra shimmery tight layered underneath their seamless fishnet. Classic dancers trick. 😉

I’ve personally heard that their fishnets are so durable, dancer friends of mine have owned pairs for years without rips. Impressive.

After leaving her apartment building in the morning wearing a plaid Equipment sweater, Taylor returned later on in the day in this pinch-front leotard by Capezio.

You can take the girl out of the L.A. dance studio but you can’t take the girl away from her newfound love of leotards.

Worn with: Free People hat, TopShop coat, Laura Gravestock necklace and Rag & Bone booties

Thankfully not as inconspicuous as her other dance leotards have been, Taylor grounds the flash of bright colour from her red wrap skirt with this basic, solid Capezio leotard featuring a cute pinch-front detail at its v-neckline.

After practically living and breathing all things crimson for the last two years, Taylor wore a near exclusive uniform of all-black for the last week. She breaks that cycle with this bright red wrap ballet skirt while on her way to dance class in L.A..

The official American website for Capezio only sells this wrap skirt in black (which Taylor has worn previously here), burgundy, pale blue, royal blue and fuschia. The British dancewear retailer Move Dancewear, however, does sell it in the pictured red ‘Garnet.
