Reem Acra Spring 2010 RTW

After the North American leg of the tour ended I didn’t think I would be seeing Taylor for weeks and weeks as she usually goes into hiding in the studio between legs.

So colour me surprised when she showed up to the premiere of her good friend Hailee Steinfeld’s latest movie looking quite prim and proper in a Reem Acra dress stretching way back to 2010 – talk about old school.

Marina Toybina custom ensemble

An anon asked what one of my favourite non-tour costumes was and I realized that I hadn’t posted it! So, here it is. The original “I Knew You Were Trouble.” costume designed by Marina Toybina from Taylor’s debut performance of the song. This is the dress that I wish had made it onto the tour over the other custom ensemble Marina created for Taylor that made it onto the RED Tour.

I also prefer the Catherine Deane dress Taylor wore prior to her on-stage costume change during this performance over the Alexander McQueen dress that was ultimately chosen for the RED Tour.

Jenny Packham Fall 2009 RTW

Taylor’s exact dress is off-the-runway but its distinctive embellishments are evident throughout the Fall ‘09 collection.

Coincidentally, both Ashley Tisdale and Leona Lewis have worn this same dress.

Susan Hilferty custom dress

This is one of my favourite tour outfits Taylor has ever worn.

As you can see from these pictures, there’s a small glimpse of a sparkly strap beneath this costume. That’s the strap of her Jenny Packham dress worn for the next song she plays: “Long Live."

One of the tour props for this song is a series of extremely large bells that ring out during the performance. When the song is over, Taylor goes underneath one the bells and quickly sinks beneath the stage on a descending platform, takes off the red dress she’s wearing and immediately rises back up to start playing "Long Live.” The effect is so fast that it looks like the bell magically does the costume change for Taylor.
