Julien Macdonald Spring 2020 – custom gown

My predictions may have been wrong. But, frankly, I’m still the real winner here. Because Taylor Swift is wearing green.

GREEN.

GREEN!

GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN

Meeting me somewhere in the middle between what I thought may be a full-length moment despite her propensity for minis at this event, Taylor opted for a high-low gown with a thigh high slit.

If we want to nitpick, I prefer the neckline on the runway original and feel that a proper slit would have made for a cleaner look on her thigh. As presented, it looks like a random Grecian drape was added to the front of a micro mini dress.

But who are we kidding.

It’s green.

It’s strappy.

It’s sequinned.

This look is perfect and I won’t allow even myself to besmirch it.

Whether or not it was intentionally for Taylor Swift Style and myself — I see u Joseph. And I thank you for this moment of emerald beauty. It’s an even more gorgeous shade than her previous green moment at the AMAs all those years ago.

Funnily enough for a look given to us during the Lover era, it’s something that I very much would have expected had Taylor given us more opportunities to shine on the red carpet during the reputation era. And I’m very much in favour of it.

Julien Macdonald Fall 2017 – not yet available

Oversized hoodies/jackets definitely seem to be the trending staple for Taylor during this era so far. This one comes from the Julien Macdonald F17 collection and definitely works for the camera with all its embellished accents.

All of the jackets from this runway were presented on males.

Julien Macdonald Spring 2017 – no listing available

What an extremely pleasant surprise! Taylor showed up to this year’s CMAs to present the Entertainer of the Year award. She positively slayed in this super sexy cutout halter dress by Julien Macdonald.

For anyone who knows me – yes the shoes killed me dead.

What do you think of Taylor’s return to an award show?

Worn with: Irit Design earrings + Maxior Joias/Borgioni Jewels/House of Gilan ringsand Stuart Weitzman sandals

Julien Macdonald Fall 2015

Wow. I don’t think any of us saw this coming.

While the dress is rendered in an electric shade of green (which, as many of you know, is a dream of mine to see Taylor in) I don’t think I can ultimately get on board with this lingerie/gown.

When I picture this stunning colour on Taylor, and it aches me in my heart to not love this as much as I want to, I picture something more along the lines of Scarlett Johansson’s sob-worthy 2015 Oscars gown that fit her body like the sexiest glove ever with a to-die-for shade of green.

I want to love it. Because it’s Taylor in green. And seeing her in this colour feels like a personal gift just for me. But this is a sad no from me. Julien Macdonald always finds a way to toe the line between sultry and trashy and this passes that line for me.

Long story short: I love the risk. I love that she went there. I love that she wore green. But I think better luck next time.

Julien MacDonald Fall 2008

Taylor took a dark, vampy turn at the Vanity Fair Oscar party last night in an off-the-runway Julien MacDonald floor-length sequined gown that featured mesh sleeves and back.

Worn with: Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, Emm Kuo clutch and Tamara Mellon heels

I personally love these sort of “wait until you see the back” sort of gowns where the front is modestly covered up and the back reveals all – as is the case with this Julien Macdonald gown. Which is surprising, since Julien isn’t known for skin-covering dresses, though it appears Taylor is definitely using the designer to transition into decidedly more sexy and mature pieces.

Which is why I’m proud of Taylor for stepping out of her comfort zone and trying on a more mature sultry, Hollywood starlet-esque look. The silhouette makes her look statuesque and for once the red lip and mani work in her favour here for a glam look.
