J Mendel Spring 2013 RTW (Look 45)

Looking like a grecian goddess, this gown by J Mendel was saved from being just another ivory chiffon confection in Taylor’s repertoire by that thigh-high slit and micro-bugle metallic straps that were custom-fitted on the plunging neckline for Tay’s version of the runway dress.

Taylor walked the GRAMMY red carpet after already picking up a gramophone for Best Song for Visual Media with “Safe & Sound” that was awarded during the GRAMMY pre-telecast.

Worn with: Jimmy Choo sandals

Congratulations to Little Big Town who picked up Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Pontoon” and to Gotye and Kimbra who won Record of the Year for “Somebody That I Used To Know”.

After tonight, Taylor is a seven-time GRAMMY winner and I’m sure RED will garner her more nominations in 2014.

Speak Now Tour Wardrobe [3/9]

“Back To December”/”Apologize”/”You’re Not Sorry”

  • Marchesa – Custom made

Some back story on this ensemble:

If you’re wondering why this Marchesa gown is custom-made, here’s a rundown. In the special 60 Minutes conducted on Taylor they did a behind-the-scenes look of her Speak Now Tour. In this video (@ 2:53) you can see Taylor running under the stage in this dress to get onto the platform that rises up with her piano to play “Back To December.” Unlike during her performance where she strictly keeps her entire right side exposed to the audience and doesn’t get up from her bench or move, this shot of Taylor running is taken from her left side. You can see the way Taylor’s Marchesa gown is loosely buttoned together and underneath her gown is the bright red sequin dress she wears for “Better Than Revenge.”

Immediately after “Back To December” ends during the show, the lights are cut and Taylor gets up from the bench, rips off her gown and gets onto the extending floating bridge she, Caitlin and Liz dance on for “Better Than Revenge.”

So if you, like me, were disappointed we didn’t get any on-stage costume changes (like we did from the Fearless Tour), feel a little better knowing that technically there was one. =)
