Aeyde ‘Nettie Sandals’ – $275.00

Coordinated neatly with her bag for a nice and complete tonal moment.

I love this outfit not only for its classically pretty lines and summery fabric (linen! eyelet!) but also what a visual respite it is. It allows the eye plenty of space and time to ‘rest’ between the coordinating white set that’s fresh and sweet but also by keeping the accessories tonally similar and very streamlined.

Worn with: Mansur Gavriel bag and Ralph Lauren top + skirt

A. Emery ‘Zahara Sandal’ – $190.00

One thing I love about Taylor is her offbeat approach to brands. It’s one of the things most defining facets of her style is that she’ll often mix high street with designer or opt for independent or smaller brands mixed in with couture or bigger names. In this case, Australian brand A. Emery who have only been around since 2017.

Stella McCartney ‘Rectangular Sunglasses’ – $310.00
Stella McCartney ‘Frayme Medium S-Wave Flap Shoulder Bag’ – $1,530.00
Simkhai ‘Pandora Embellished Skirt’ – $390.00
Chanel ‘Back to College Loafer’ – $1,350.00

This skirt, when paired with a very closely matched top (getting shades of black to match is so hard), gives the appearance of a dress when it is actually sneaky separates.

Taylor has rocked many all black ensembles over the years and it’s always been the chicest complement to her red lip.

The repeated motif of chains here could certainly have a more symbolic read, but I like it purely as a styling detail that keeps the outfit cohesive but distinct.

Taylor has long been a lover of a loafer and worn many over the years. Leather, suede, heeled. The choice to wear Chanel, on the other hand, is more unfamiliar territory. She’s worn the French house often enough when styled for photoshoots, but rarely in her street style. I can actually only think of two Chanel footwear instances in all my years documenting her fashion. A pair of black leather oxfords (worn multiple times in 2012 – it has its own dedicated tag here) and one pair of cap toe bow heel pumps (December 2014).

Out to dinner w/ Jack Antonoff | New York City, NY | April 11, 2023

The Row ‘Grais Ribbed Virgin Wool Knit Top’ – $1,115.00
Paco Rabanne ‘1969 Moon Bag’ – $1,600.00
Area ‘Embellished Cut Out High Rise Jeans’ – $673.00
Sam Edelman ‘Jildie Mary Jane Sling Back Heel’ – $139.95

The post-breakup pap walk is a film we’ve seen before in the fandom – but it’s never looked quite this cute. It’s easy for your eye to flit around on this outfit – black and blue denim is a reliable classic that feels easy and simple, but it’s given a hot girl twist. The interplay of silver metallics between her chainmail bag and the butterfly embellished details (and yes, that necklace) (which no, I can’t confirm at the moment) on her jeans also keep a nice repeating motif that makes the outfit flow.

While we’re out here dressing for revenge, this feels like Taylors own take on Di’s precedent thanks to the subtle curvature of the top’s neckline (it’s not just a v neck!). And yes, scene-stealing jewelry included.

The mary jane silhouette feels like a callback to signature Taylor style – she’s long favoured a chunky heeled silhouette like these in the form of an oxford or platform shoe.

Perhaps this is penance for not getting to see the full picture of her Area cut out pants from her previous SNL performance but whatever made it happen – I’m glad it did.

There’s something to me that feels highly symbolic of the butterfly here, not just in its nod to Lover, but of its original concept of rebirth and renewal. If there’s one thing Taylor has done over her career, it’s perfected coming back. Whether that’s from the dead or stronger than a 90s trend.

The Eras Tour | 1989 section | Version 2

Roberto Cavalli custom
Christian Louboutin custom

If you follow the TSSQ blog then you know I have an ongoing tag dedicated to me live reacting to Taylor in green. Needless to say that tag was popping off yesterday when Taylor swapped out her original pink co-ord set for the 1989 section of her setlist for this gree(eeeeeeeeeeee)n one. And matching booties, natch.

I don’t think I need to elaborate further that this set is my clear favourite between the two.

Doesn’t she just look like the happiest string bean in green?
