Prada ‘Saffiano Lux Medium Double-Zip Leather Satchel‘ – $2390.00

Thanks to Marina, it’s come to my attention that Taylor’s black Saffiano bag by Prada is the brand’s double zip style, as noted in the picture.

Taylor Swift Style – 2014 American Music Awards

Tonight Taylor will not only be delivering the debut performance of “Blank Space” (fingers-crossed for a tour-worthy outfit and performance) but she is also going to be the first-time recipient of the “Dick Clark Award for Excellence” for her historic album sales.

Traditionally, the AMAs are usually a fun and leggy affair for Taylor filled with mini dresses and flirty dresses. Over-the-top gowns aren’t usually the norm and considering Taylor’s latest love for cut outs, crop tops and short hemlines, my choices reflect that.

  • Versace Spring 2015
As I mentioned above, the AMAs are typically a fun night in music. As Taylor’s style has gradually drifted towards the sexy, the daring and the bold — what better brand to turn to than Versace. This mini was probably the least risqué that took to the Spring runway (baby steps) but the combination of the pastel blue with vibrant red slashes opens Taylor up to wearing kick ass minty sandals and accessorizing with a red lip.
  • J. Mendel Spring 2015
After taking a break from a brand she used to favour in the Speak Now-leading-up-to-RED era, Taylor wore two of the brand’s dresses while doing television promo for 1989. I would love to see this colour against Taylor’s skin. It’s one that she hasn’t worn before on the red carpet and taking into consideration her hair and eyes, a gorgeous bronzed shadow and glossy pink lip would fit this perfectly. Accessorized with silver/metallic jewels and shoes, a bare neckline and letting her legs speak for themselves.
  • David Koma Spring 2015
Nothing says fun like David Koma’s youthful sport-inspired collections. Featuring some daring cut outs that make this dress crop-top friendly, I could see a grey or navy smoky eye, ankle-strap sandals, a dark mani and nude lips finishing off this dress.
  • David Koma Fall 2014
Since Taylor rarely wears necklaces on the red carpet, this might be an interesting dress for her to take on. A little “darker” than my other choices, it has enough edgy but feminine appeal to balance between her girly as well as sexy aesthetics she’s been playing with for 1989

(Please keep in mind, these predictions are just for fun and imagining Taylor in different brands/silhouettes. It’s just good-natured guessing and picturing Tay in all sorts of things ^_^)

What do you think TSS-ers? Is there a piece or brand you would love to see Taylor wear tonight?

— Instead of a short hemline, Taylor went full-length in a personal life goal of my own: an emerald cutout Michael Kors gown.

Taylor Swift Style – 2014 Met Gala

The Met Gala — well understood to be one of the biggest social (and of course, fashion) events of the year. This year, Taylor will be a guest of J. Mendel and thus will be wearing one of his designs.

While I maintain that Taylor will likely be wearing a custom ballgown to properly honour the designer behind this year’s theme (Charles James: Beyond Fashion), I’ve gone through the J. Mendel archives to pick some of my top faves as tribute to Charles James’ exquisite structural designs.

  • J. Mendel Pre-Fall 2013
    – A classic, full-skirted ballgown silhouette is instantly modernized by a splattered paint motif. A dress that harmonizes glamour with a more youthful, fresh flair.
  • J. Mendel Resort 2010
    – As soon as I laid my eyes on this gown, my breath caught a little bit. The Met Gala is all about drama and making an entrance. And when the theme of the night is white tie ballgown? Be prepared for some extravagant moments.
The floaty underskirt of tulle on this gorgeous yellow gown is offset by delicate folding on the outer peplum skirt and folded bust. The colour would also look divine against Taylor’s skin.
  • J. Mendel Pre-Fall 2012
    – Upon perusing the Pre-Fall 2012 collection, I was torn between choosing this nude gown that featured a fuller, more detailed skirt. Or this similar royal blue one with a slimmer skirt.
Ultimately, I had to go with what would lend itself better to Charles James. And those careful origami-like folds along the bodice and skirt screamed to be the superior choice despite the more quiet colour.
  • Charles James Vintage
    – Okay. So. This isn’t a J. Mendel piece. And no, Taylor will certainly not wear this beautifully constructed original Charles James gown. But DAMNIT I’m going to predict a green dress for every event until this woman retires.

What do you think TSS-ers? Which of my choices do you prefer? Or do you think Taylor will wear a custom gown?

— In a surprise move, Taylor ended up wearing a custom pink Oscar de la Renta design to the 2014 Met Gala instead of J. Mendel as was originally stated.

Steven Alan ‘Crossover Shirt’ – $178.00

After going shopping at the Steven Alan store a couple weeks ago, it was only a matter of time before Taylor wore one of his shirts. Here, it’s a striped buttondown with an interesting crossover twist.

Worn with: Ray-Ban wayfarers, Tod’s bag, Joe’s Jeans trousers and Prada heels
