R13 ‘Gathered Hem Shirt’ – $450.00

I love a crisp white button down. If you saw my stories, you already noted the similarities drawn between this outfit and one also worn ahead of Taylor’s reputation Tour MetLife tour dates back in 2018. For me, I couldn’t help but notice the small details that pull through both outfits. The soft, undone hair. Those waves! The perennial bangs! The casual polish of pairing a button down with distressed denim. But my favourite is the subtle transference of asymmetric details across the outfits – from the off-shoulder detail of her button up in 2018 to the crossover button front of her 2023 shorts.

Worn with: Ralph Lauren bag, R13 shorts, and A. Emery sandals

Vintage ‘Stone Harbor Sweatshirt’ – not available for purchase

That Russell Athletic logo could have made this sweatshirt belong anywhere as it’s a go-to piece to superimpose localized embroidery on.

My best guess is that Taylor – ever the nostalgic one – felt a pull towards this one for childhood memories spent on the Jersey Shore.

Worn with: Rouje earrings and Gucci ring

The Row ‘Grais Ribbed Virgin Wool Knit Top’ – $1,115.00
Paco Rabanne ‘1969 Moon Bag’ – $1,600.00
Area ‘Embellished Cut Out High Rise Jeans’ – $673.00
Sam Edelman ‘Jildie Mary Jane Sling Back Heel’ – $139.95

The post-breakup pap walk is a film we’ve seen before in the fandom – but it’s never looked quite this cute. It’s easy for your eye to flit around on this outfit – black and blue denim is a reliable classic that feels easy and simple, but it’s given a hot girl twist. The interplay of silver metallics between her chainmail bag and the butterfly embellished details (and yes, that necklace) (which no, I can’t confirm at the moment) on her jeans also keep a nice repeating motif that makes the outfit flow.

While we’re out here dressing for revenge, this feels like Taylors own take on Di’s precedent thanks to the subtle curvature of the top’s neckline (it’s not just a v neck!). And yes, scene-stealing jewelry included.

The mary jane silhouette feels like a callback to signature Taylor style – she’s long favoured a chunky heeled silhouette like these in the form of an oxford or platform shoe.

Perhaps this is penance for not getting to see the full picture of her Area cut out pants from her previous SNL performance but whatever made it happen – I’m glad it did.

There’s something to me that feels highly symbolic of the butterfly here, not just in its nod to Lover, but of its original concept of rebirth and renewal. If there’s one thing Taylor has done over her career, it’s perfected coming back. Whether that’s from the dead or stronger than a 90s trend.

Brandy Melville ‘Veena Sweater’ – no longer available

This sweater was quite the blast from the past – I love continuing to see it in rotation in her closet. We last saw the burgundy version December 2019.

Since 2015, Taylor has worn this sweater in: blackgreengray, and a New York emblazoned version

If you follow the TSSQ blog then you know I have an ongoing tag dedicated to me live reacting to Taylor in green. Needless to say that tag was popping off yesterday when Taylor swapped out her original pink co-ord set for the 1989 section of her setlist for this gree(eeeeeeeeeeee)n one. And matching booties, natch.

I don’t think I need to elaborate further that this set is my clear favourite between the two.

Doesn’t she just look like the happiest string bean in green?

Another moment where a throwback to previous style was going to be an easy win. There’s nothing like a matching crop top and skirt with sparkle booties to evoke the 1989 Tour. Fausto Puglisi did an incredible job with the unique diamond-shaped Swarovski work here.

The Eras Tour | RED section | Version 1

Ashish Sequin Tee – custom

If you were wondering why this outfit worked so seamlessly to mimic the high waisted shorts of the RED Era, it’s because Taylor’s red ombre bodysuit (worn underneath here) were designed perfectly to look like a regular pair of shorts. This is stage designing at its smartest because it makes the following quick change incredibly easy.

It’s also so heartwarming to see Taylor intentionally bring back the same designer of this original tee – and have fun with a cheeky self reference that there is, in fact, a lot going on at the moment.

Worn with: Gladys Tamez hat, Ashish bodysuit, and Christian Louboutin oxfords
