Music Video: “Blank Space"

So while this one was kind of a no-brainer, what it ultimately came down to was which of the — count ‘em — nineteen costume changes from the "Blank Space” music video were my favourites.

I narrowed it down to these four and I have a feeling that my picks won’t be as popular with you guys.

Firstly, was the floral Dolce & Gabbana gown that I knew would top the list.

Next, was a simplistically feminine crop top and skirt by Katie Ermilio who also contributed a pair of shorts for another outfit for Taylor that I also loved. Ultimately, I went with this set up because the juxtaposition of this beautiful matching set combined with the reckless insanity of beating up a car was really great foresight on behalf of Taylor’s stylist.

Following was the intricate patterns of this bandeau and shorts combo from Naeem Khan. The amount of sass that came from this scene, I just couldn’t.

Finally, though it was seen only briefly, there was just something completely insane that I loved about seeing Taylor in an all-black outfit, skyscraper booties, transparent skirt and lace blouse all while going ballistic on a tree. There was just something about this outfit I loved.

Performance – z100 Jingle Ball (December 13)

Looking back through Taylor’s performance outfits through the year, I mostly felt a sense of disappointment and with the exception of her “All Too Well” gown at the Grammys, had a difficult time choosing between outfits I had lukewarm feelings towards.

I was almost tempted to “cheat” and put this outfit, which was for a rehearsal of a performance, on the list.

In the end, I went with this festive crop top and pants combo from designer Jessica Jones. The reason being that for a Christmas concert, the tartan ensemble couldn’t have been more appropriate and fun. Plus Taylor had such a blast on stage ringing in her 25th birthday.

Performance – “All Too Well” @ 2014 Grammys

Is an explanation really needed to validate this performance outfit’s position in the year-end list?

Now that we’re in the 1989 era it may seem crazy to even fathom that this happened this year, but it was in January that Taylor sang this song at the biggest music award’s ceremony just for her fans.

Wearing a gorgeous gown to boot.

Event — Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show After-Party (December 2)

In 2014, we saw Taylor vamp up her style and begin taking steps towards sexier, more mature choices. This Zuhair Murad couture piece was, in my opinion, the exemplification of that effort.

Everything about this gown screams elegance and also sultry appeal. The futuristic sheer bodice, the one-shoulder effect, the thigh-high slit. I hope she tries to one-up this in 2015 several times over.

Event – Vanity Fair Oscar Party

I think I have a greater amount of appreciation for this backless Julien MacDonald dress in retrospect than when it first debuted earlier this year.

It’s dark, it’s elegant and a bit of turn-around-and-bam from that sheer back. Her styling which includes a gorgeous clutch, simple sandals and dark smoky makeup were also the perfect additions to the gown.
