TSS 2018 OUTFITS FAN VOTE: RESULTS + THAT DOMAIN THING WE TALKED ABOUT

Happy New Year TSS-ers! Of course I had every intention of getting this post up just as the New Year rang in but (as is tradition) time got away from me.

I hope you all got to enjoy your respective New Year celebrations. Whether that was out on the town, at a house party surrounded by your favourite people, if you were lucky to be caught in the rainstorm at Times Square as the ball dropped, or if you opted to watch the Reputation Stadium Tour Netflix special for the 298347932874 time.

Thank you so much for your continued support during both busy and quiet years. Though we had a new album out, with Taylor opting for a less-is-more promotion approach and staying out of the public eye this was definitely a unique album year experience for me as a blog runner and while I hope that TS7 will bring us many more fashionable opportunities to dissect and fawn over, I’m constantly looking to you guys as a source of inspiration for the content that you want to see. So please feel free to head over to @taylorswiftstylequestions and let me know if you have any feature requests you’d like more of. If you follow TSS on Instagram, I dedicated my most recent Frequently Asked Friday to discussing some of your biggest recommendations (to summarize: Predictions, Opinions, Makeup, Personal Fashion from Me, and Flashbacks were top contenders).

I also wanted to say a big fat giant thank you to all the people who supported the GoFundMe. Thanks to all of you beautiful, generous, kind-hearted people Taylor Swift Style can now be found under taylorswiftstyle.com. I’m still working out some bugs with the domain but thank you. From the bottom of my heart. This immediate, overwhelming rush of support. I’m still floored.

Now with that … the fan vote. One of the suggestions I immediately got back from the survey was that the categories were limited. If you’ve ever taken part in a Fan Vote, which, judging by the record breaking number of people who participated in this year’s poll (seriously unreal) there were a lot of new people around (hello!) I typically limit the Fan Vote poll to your major categories (consider it like The Big Four at the Grammys instead of me letting you vote for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance). But with so few outfits, I had to whittle down the categories even further than usual. But what do you wish you got to raise your voice on?

And with THAT … the results of the fan vote. 😉

We were completely in sync with all of your choices as I also selected her BBMA gown over her disco ball moment at the AMAs. For awhile this was actually a very tight race but then became a very clear winner for her Versace gown.

From the Reputation Tour, this vote actually literally came down to one single vote. I’ll be including all the runner-ups below because it was THAT. CLOSE. The outfit that came in third was only behind your first place choice of Taylor’s Version 2 opening outfit by 9 votes. Insane.

The candid outfit was also a very clear winner with what was also my number one candid choice. Funnily, your second choice didn’t even make it into my favourites list. Thus making the runners-up fan list that much more interesting.

FAN VOTE RUNNER-UPS:

Tour: Jessica Jones 5 (Acoustic Set)
Candid: Attending The Favourite premiere

I hope you all enjoyed the Favourite Outfits of 2018 list. Did your favourite make it into the Fan Vote?

Favourite Outfits of 2018: Taylor Swift Style

Rep Room — Washington, D.C. (July 11), Tokyo (November 20), London (June 22), Detroit (August 28)

The majority of Taylor’s pre- and post-Reputation show outfits followed a very distinctive pattern and go-to brands. Camo, plaid, distressed denim, sequins, black tops with khaki green skirts or cargo pants. Typically paired with lace up platform ankle boots and thigh highs.

There were a few refreshing moments where this pattern abated. Like that lush red velvet dress she wore in Tokyo as well as a few softer floral moments towards the end of the tour that had many of you speculating if this was a teaser for the next style to come (my thoughts are that it’s too early to tell — it’s not like we saw her wear chokers and camo in Loft ‘89, but it’s always fun to dream).

My choices here are fairly obvious. The first from Washington, D.C. I had even stated that very day it was one of my favourite Rep outfits and I had a feeling it would have enough lasting power to make it to this list. Which it did. Simple as it is, there’s just something equally good girl and after school detention badass that I love about it. I loved the jersey knit of her Marc Jacobs jacket. It really softens those sparkles even more and seemed such an unconventional fabric choice.

Those of you who paid attention to my Reputation Tour Predictions post and saw my reaction from her wearing this particular Ashish top in Detroit will all be too-familiar with why it made its way onto this list. While there were other outfits I could deem as cuter or more fire, I just take far too much satisfaction in having correctly guessed Tay would wear it that I had to include it here as well.

And with that, notable mention goes to these two thigh high moments.
