TAYLOR SWIFT STYLE – ERAS TOUR
70s Influence: I definitely expect references to the 70s Midnights aesthetic throughout her costuming. The question is how does one make corduroy stage-appropriate? Psychedelic prints and patterns, saturated tones, exaggerated crochet, fringe, and Gucci-esque disco influences all seem like fun costume possibilities.
Stars/Night: It’s a bit on the nose/literal, but I’d be surprised if we didn’t see some kind of reference to constellations, stars, and planetary movements that give reference to the haunted, evening aspect of Midnights.
Bejeweled, Natch: It isn’t a Taylor Swift concert without a requisite sparkly mini moment. I definitely expect at least one fringey sparkle dress somewhere and, of course, a very OTT production that references the corsetry and camp of the “Bejeweled” music video a la a leotard/bodysuit/burlesque moment.
Suiting/Jumpsuits: I demand a jumpsuit on tour. I simply need it. There are also just many opportunities to make this 70s-esque and I also feel like Taylor has really been leaning into tailoring, suits, and blazers the last few years. Plus with that recent gold jumpsuit from The Blonds a custom sparkly jumpsuit for tour doesn’t seem so far-fetched.
Cottagecore Goddess: While for the most part I expect the costuming to center on themes most relevant to Midnights, I also suspect special attention may be made to make sure there are costumed references to the album’s Taylor has yet to tour. Something in the nature of the beautiful Etro gown she wore for the 2021 Grammys performance that was shimmery enough for stage but had just enough flow and billowing sleeves to reference the wood nymph cottagecore energy of folkmore struck the exact right balance.
What are you hoping to see Taylor wear on stage and, equally important, what song are you most looking forward to hearing live?
