TAYLOR SWIFT STYLE – CMT PREDICTIONS

One thing I will say about the folklore era, as little as we know thus far about its impending style direction in a formal setting, we can at least appreciate the concerted heads up of Taylor’s appearances.

While I’m unsure if her presenting role at this year’s CMT Awards will be pre-recorded from the solitude of whatever property she is currently holed up in and we’ll receive some kind of casual Free People-esque lewk from the chest up or if there will be a proper styling Lewk that we receive, I’m working under the hope for the latter, but probably to a less glamorous extent compared to year’s previous.

Taylor’s history at the CMT Awards has consistently centered on a short hemline, something I wonder if Taylor has grown out of for this era.
My choices reflect a possible more laidback appearance as well as a subtle honouring of her appearing at a country awards show with a bit of warmth.

Full post is up on the TSS Patreon right here, available at the TSS EXLUSIVES ($8) tier.

Post also includes allllll the fun variations and behind-the-scenes content for how I got to the final four lewks.

TAYLOR SWIFT STYLE — 2020 ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS

On Sunday (the 13th, naturally) we were treated to the announcement that Taylor would be returning to the Academy of Country Music Awards. Five years since taking the stage entirely and seven years since her last performance, we’ve been blessed by the knowledge that not only will Taylor be present to perform, but that she will be debuting the live performance of “betty” from the Grand Ole Opry (Source: Variety).

Seeing as how this will (possibly?) only be a performance lewk and not necessarily (maybe?) a red carpet lewk, my choices are reflective of that distinction. While these may not (all) be the red carpet gown we would come to expect from a typical ACM appearance, we have to keep in mind this is not a typical ACM appearance and that Taylor’s performance-wear will always differ in style, function, and intent from her RC style.

To that, here we go!

  • Reem Acra Spring 2021

Welcome to Betty’s garden everyone. This gown is flowy, romantic, and would look absolutely stunning in terms of presence occupying that Grand Ole Opry stage. The lights! The circle! My heart. I imagine her hair being very much like her Time 100 Gala lewk but with the folklore era’s curly bangs. Smoky brown cat eyeliner, dusty rose balmy lips, and maybe even a Fearless-y headband to finish it off.
  • Lela Rose Spring 2020

I love that this isn’t just your typical tulle gown but the super subtle tiny little polka dot print on the gauze adds that little extra something whimsical that I think this performance will embody. I would hope for a fun shoe that adds a bit of rustic texture like these woven Louboutins, a muted terracotta lip, and maybe a low wavy chignon (so as not to compete with that high neckline).
  • Elisabetta Franchi Fall 2020

This feels like a modern reinterpretation of the sundress and cowboy boots lewks we were served with during the Self Titled and Fearless Tours. Sparkly, sequinned, fringe dress paired with leather boots. A red lip and some stunning huge knocker earrings would be the great finishing touches to this.
  • Altuzarra Spring 2020

I wanted something that whispered “country” but didn’t yell it. I also had a really good feeling that this performance look would have roots in a blue/brown/white or yellow colour palette. This polka dot print and the way it’s wrapped looks like a country handkerchief beautifully wrapped and then cinched with a leather belt. The injection of leather as a material here I think continues to keep the look feeling a bit rustic and polished but in a Nashville kind of way.

What do you think of my choices? What do you think Taylor will wear to the ACMs?

TAYLOR SWIFT STYLE – LOVER FEST

Boss Fall 2020 // Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini Fall 2020

  • ENCORE
  • ME!

Taylor has historically saved the lead single of the era as her final performance/encore moment. And it was also my last opportunity to throw in another suit into the costume mix. I couldn’t decide between these two purple pastel suits, one is a little bit closer in vibe to the lemon yellow Victoria Hayes suit and tie look from the “ME!” music video itself … but I couldn’t deny the ostentatious embellishment and feathers of the Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini runway. So here we have both!

So what do you think of my Lover Fest/Tour choices? Any initial favourites? Things you would change? A grandiose idea of your own setlist? Let me know!

TAYLOR SWIFT STYLE – LOVER FEST

Isabel Marant Spring 2019

  • Shake It Off
  • Cruel Summer

How like-Taylor would it be to have all of us feel tortured and waiting all this time to hear “Cruel Summer” … only for her to put it right at the end of her setlist? Let’s be real. It seems so painfully realistic, doesn’t it? /laugh cries

It’ll be contentious, and I’m obviously biased, but god I love this outfit so much. It’s acid washed, it’s fun, it’s got subtle sequins. It’s just a blast and I love it. Obviously I could picture the same boot silhouette here but entirely sequinned for the stage. There are also some other jackets in the same runway collection I like better than the one pictured, such as that from Look 1 but I overall loved the layered separates best from this look. That said, this jacket does have cute ombre detail in the right Lover colourway on the sleeves, so that does work in its favour.

This is just a FUN AS HELL vibe outfit to wear while singing one of her most massive hit singles and the massive-hit-single-that-could-have-been. I’m genuinely obsessed with this one. And the brand, of course, is a fun nod to one that Taylor has worn IRL.

Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2020

  • Delicate/Clean (mashup)

The runaway hit of reputation combined with the haunting synths and harmonies signature to Imogen Heap’s production that is “Clean”. All done while wearing this delightfully frothy tulle gown that looks like the representation of all Taylor’s fairytale references being washed clean down the fabric.

Obviously, this gown is to be worn during a minimal-movement performance. I can imagine some kind of flying over the crowd situation here in a cotton candy Lover coloured cloud over the audience.
